Personalized Puppy training programs in Fort Myers

I’m an experienced dog trainer in the Fort Myers area and can create customized training plans tailored to your puppy’s specific needs and personality. This individualized approach ensures that your puppy receives the attention and guidance necessary for effective learning.

Positive Reinforcement Techniques

By employing positive reinforcement methods, a skilled trainer, like Phyllis, can help your puppy learn basic manners, such as, “sit,” down,”  “come,” and “loose leash walking.” This not only establishes clear communication but also fosters a trusting relationship between you and your pup.

Housebreaking Strategies

A professional in the field can provide you with strategies for successful potty training, which is essential for maintaining a clean living environment. Techniques may include establishing consistent routines and using crate training to encourage good habits.

Socialization Skills

Early socialization is key to a well-adjusted dog. Phyllis can guide you on how to properly expose your puppy to various people, animals, and environments, reducing the likelihood of fear or aggression as they grow.

Aggression Prevention

Resource guarding, fear aggression and body handling sensitivity is best prevented in puppyhood but misunderstandings on how to do this are rife in popular culture. Learn how to do it right with an expert on puppy training and puppy development.

Managing Chewing and Biting

As an expert in the field, she can offer guidance on redirecting biting and helping your puppy develop a soft mouth, which will ensure your puppy grows up to be a safe companion for a lifetime.

Consistent Routines

As a professional trainer, Phyllis can emphasize the importance of consistency in training, helping you establish and maintain routines that will make the training process smoother and more effective.

Support and Guidance

With patience and a focus on positive reinforcement, Phyllis can help you reward good behavior and build a strong bond with your puppy. If you face any challenges, she can provide the support and professional advice needed to overcome them.

What are some things NOT to teach your puppy?

Here are some things NOT to teach your puppy:

1. Do not teach your puppy that your leather sofa is the best rawhide ever, or your dining room rug makes a great toilet. Allowing them to have too much freedom in the house too soon can lead to the development of bad habits.

3. Do not teach your puppy that you are someone to fear. Using harsh training methods or punishment can erode the bond with your puppy and lead to problem behaviors, including aggression.

4. Do not teach your puppy anything you will not like when your puppy is older. Petting a jumping puppy and feeding your puppy when she’s begging can reinforce the behavior. Reinforce what you would like her to do instead.

5. Do not teach your puppy that the world is a scary place by skipping early socialization, or forcing puppies to face their fears.  Puppies need socialization but it must be carefully orchestrated to ensure that all exposures are pleasant experiences.
